Canada to streamline energy project permit process

Recently, Canada Energy Minister Tim Hodgson pledged to “make Canada a true conventional and clean energy superpower.” Through the Major Federal projects office, the government will fast-track Projects of National Interest by offering a single window for permits. The hope is to streamline a process that has been scattered across multiple departments.

The ‘One Project, One Review’ approach means less red tape and, according to Hodgson, better outcomes. Scalable energy sources like geothermal, advanced biofuels, hydrogen, nuclear and renewable energy could meet rising demand and strengthen the Canadian economy.
