Indigenous-led partnerships power two renewable energy projects in Saskatchewan

Last week, SaskPower awarded contracts for the 100-megawatt Southern Springs Solar Project and 200-megawatt Rose Valley Wind Project. These projects will be executed by the Meadow Lake Tribal Council and Mistawasis Nehiyawak First Nation, in partnership with Potentia Renewables Inc.

“With these projects, our government and SaskPower are continuing to advance economic reconciliation and build on our strong relationships with Saskatchewan’s Indigenous communities,” Jeremy Harrison, minister responsible for SaskPower, said in a news release.

Jeremy Norman, Meadow Lake Tribal Council Chief, said the projects are not only about delivering power—they’re about creating opportunity. These projects bring meaningful participation in the economy.

The projects are expected to produce enough energy for 125,000 Saskatchewan homes.
