Here is some positive news! For the first time, energy sources that don’t emit greenhouse gases, like renewables and nuclear power, generated more than 40% of global electricity demand.
A report from an international research group showed that renewable energy generated a record 32% of electricity worldwide last year, while nuclear power generated about 9.1%.
Despite tariffs and other economic challenges, the renewables industry produced an additional 858 TWh of generation in the system last year. That is more than the combined yearly electricity use of France and the U.K. combined.
