The Alberta Government’s restricted zone map for renewable energy projects

Last week, the Alberta Government released details and the ‘no-go zones’ for wind and solar development in the province. Development is prohibited along Alberta’s eastern slopes in the west and restricted on agricultural land unless it can coexist with livestock or crops.

“The map and agricultural restrictions will affect 57 projects worth $14 billion,” said Jason Wang, an analyst at the Pembina Institute.

You can see the restricted areas on this map that was released by the province. Check out this article for more on this story: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/alberta-viewscapes-buffer-zones-renewables-map-1.7145368
